Xasteria was originally developed to provide iOS users with the excellent ASTRO weather forecast from 7Timer. It offers worldwide coverage and boasts one of the most accurate astro-seeing models, making it an invaluable tool for stargazers.
The app has now been expanded to provide quick access to a range of popular weather resources and tools. These include Clear Sky Charts (for North American users), Clear Outside, Meteoblue, Windy, Astrospheric, Sat24.com, water vapor satellite images, and light pollution maps. Additionally, Xasteria displays ISS and satellite passes for your location using data from heavens-above.com.
The primary forecast source, 7Timer, relies on the NOAA/NCEP-based Global Forecast System (GFS), which offers a comprehensive forecast with a resolution of approximately 20km at 3-hour intervals, covering the entire globe.
With Xasteria, you can access a range of essential data, such as Sun/Moon rise/set times, twilight times, moon phase, cloud cover, astronomical seeing conditions, atmospheric transparency, temperature, humidity, rain/snow likelihood, atmospheric instability, wind speed, and wind direction.
Xasteria offers three visualization modes for the data: the new and visually appealing 7Timer! ASTRO graphics, color-stripe graphics similar to other astro-forecast services, or a raw text mode for those who prefer simplicity.
The app is available in English, Greek, and French. If you wish to translate it into your preferred language, please contact the author directly.
Xasteria is committed to remaining ad-free. However, for those who would like to support the app and contribute to maintaining the 7Timer service behind it, Xasteria Plus is available. This premium version provides access to non-free weather sources and offers additional features such as night vision mode, iPhone landscape view, lunar calendar, and location manager.
If you are using Xasteria, I would greatly appreciate it if you could leave a quick review on the App Store. Rest assured, there will be no intrusive pop-ups asking for feedback within the app itself, as we understand how bothersome those can be. Alternatively, if you have any specific requests or suggestions, please visit the official app page at http://astro.ecuadors.net.
